Digital is changing the world, and the pharmaceutical industry is no exception. Accenture’s Healthcare Technology Vision 2015 recently published a survey highlighting what the consulting firm sees as the “Top 5 eHealth Trends” in 2015.

“The Internet of Me”, “Outcome Economy”, “The Platform (R)evolution”, “Intelligent Enterprise”, “Workforce Reimagined”, these trends describe a more personalized, smarter and better health for all.

The study focuses on patients as well as the future of the industry.

What if we could request new meds directly from our smartwatch, or get real-time text alerts that our blood pressure is too high? Given that 76% of patients say that the use of technology to manage their health has the potential to improve their health, expectation are high for smarter medical devices.

Importantly, the industry needs to develop the right platforms, able to connect all the data and to give immediate and comprehensive results to patients and healthcare professionals.

The digital revolution is not about replacing people with machines but about making doctors and healthcare professionals more efficient, capable to take on increasingly complex tasks, and in the end, providing better care to patients
